We’ve finally got our first real glimpse of this year’s Haunted Mansion movie, a film based on the legendary Disney theme park attraction that centers around Rosario Dawson playing a woman who, along with her son (Chase W. Dillon), move into a home with some spooky squatters.

As the trailer above shows, Dawson and Dillon’s characters get help from a slew of ne’er-do-well ghost hunters, who seem more than a little underprepared to deal with the mansion’s stretching walls and questionable art. The teaser is short, of course, but from what I see here, it looks like the movie could be a fun time at the theaters.
“As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I’m beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast,” director Justin Simien, whose previous credits include creating the television show Dear White People, said in a statement. “Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny and cinematic otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy! I can’t wait for audiences to experience this big screen version of the iconic Disney attraction.”
In addition to Dawn and Dillon, Haunted Mansion stars LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and, sadly, Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.
The movie scares its way into theaters on July 28, 2023. We also got a new poster for the movie today, which you can check out below:
